Clear Lake is located in Cherry County approximately sixteen miles south of Valentine. It is one of several lakes in the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge. Only nonpowered boats or boats with electric motors are allowed. Minnows are prohibited; dead smelt are allowed. Possession of fish not taken from refuge waters is unlawful. There are size limits on some species; check current regulations at the park information center.
This lake has 425 surface acres of water. All Valentine Refuge lakes are subject to summer aquatic weed growth. This makes fishing from shore in the later months of summer very difficult. The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists Clear Lake as containing Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Norther Pike and Yellow Perch.
Camping is not allowed at the refuge, but facilities are available at nearby Merrit Reservoir. The Lake has very primitive boating access.
