Hord Lake State Recreation Area is located in Merrick County Nebraska, two miles east of Central City. There are 2 lakes with a combined 23 surface acres of water. Boating is allowed but is restricted to non-powered craft and craft with electric motors. The lakes are sandpit style lakes, and have proven to be a good source of fishing for several years. The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lakes as containing Bluegill, Bullhead, Carp, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass and Tiger Muskie. Facilities at Hord State Recreation area include primitive camping, restrooms, and primitive boating access.
