Maskenthine Reservoir is located approximately 2 miles northwest of the city of Stanton, in Stanton
county, Nebraska. The lake has approximately 98 surface acres of water with good fishing all year around.
The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as having good fishable populations of
Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Pike and Walleye. Maskenthine reservoir has relatively level water levels
all year, and good natural and man made cover. The lake produces good Bluegill and Bass near the shoreline with
nightcrawlers and crankbaits. The dam can be productive for Crappie and Walleye in early spring with minnows and
crankbaits. The only drawback of this lake tends to be a thick weed cover near the shore and in shallow areas. This
can cause anglers and boaters quite a headache.
The facilities at Maskenthine reservoir includes a boat ramp, swimming beach, primitive and modern
camping facilities, fresh water, camping facilities, and a wheelchair accessible fishing pier. The lake over the past several years has produced up to a half dozen master angler awards every year.
