The Mormon Island State Recreation Area is located in Hail County Nebraska, near exit 312 off the Grand Island I-80 Interchange. Boating is allowed on the lakes but is restricted to non-power or electric motors. There are several areas in the SRA; divided into west, middle and east areas. There is approximately 83 acres of lakes in these three areas.
The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists Mormon Island State Recreation Area as containing food fishable populations of Bluegill, Bullhead, Carp, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Tiger Muskie, and Walleye.
Facilities at Mormon Island include dump stations, electronic hookups, trailer pads, showers, restrooms, picnic sites and camping.
