Lake Ogallala is located directly below Kinglsey Dam (Lake McConaughy) and has approximately 590 surface acres of water. The lake was formed from the construction of Kinglsey Dam.
The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as having catchable populations of Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Walleye, White Bass, and Yellow Perch. Anglers should note there is a 15 inch length limit on Walleye and Largemouth Bass on Lake Ogallala. Lake Ogallala is often overlooked being in the shadow of Lake McConaughy, and provides an average of a dozen master anglers each year.
Facilities at Lake Ogallala include a wheelchair accessible fishing pier, boat ramps, fresh water, showers, modern camping, and restrooms.
