LINGID

Prairie Lake State Recreation Area is located in Adams County four and one-half miles south of Juniata. It is part of the Little Blue Natural Resource District. Boating is allowed on the lake, but is limited to 5 mile per hour no-wake limit.

The lake has 65 surfaces acres of water, and is very turbid. The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists Prairie as containing Channel Catfish. Upon our visit we found there were other fish populations in the lake and were able to land several good sized Bullhead and Bluegill.

Facilities at Prairie Lake include restrooms, picnic areas, and a boat ramp. I am unsure at this time if camping is permitted. Note: The roads upon our last visit were in terrible shape. They are unimproved dirt and very badly rutted. In all probability under a moderate rain these roads might become impassible.
