LINGID

Summit Lake is located 4 1/2 miles southwest of Tekamah, Nebraska, in Burt County. Summit has approximately 190 surface acres of water with moderate changes in level throughout the year. There is a limit on boating on the lake with a 5mph no wake rule in effect.

The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as containing catchable populations of Bass, Bluegill, Carp, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Wiper. The lake is best known for its catfishing and crappie in the summertime, and its winter ice fishing. Catfishing in the summer is extremely productive at night using large live baits. Bait such as frogs, large shad, nightcrawlers, salamanders, and liver will produce fish regularly in the 6 to 8 pound range. These baits are best fished suspended a few inches off the bottom using a bobber, or if alive left to swim naturally about 25 feet out from the shoreline in 3 - 10 feet of water. Crappie can be taken along the shoreline and near brushpiles using small spinners and redworms. Bass will occasionally be also taken with the same techniques.

Wintertime is also an active time at Summit lake. This is one of the most preferred and heavily fished lake for Ice fishing in Nebraska. Ice fishing with small minnows and jigs can produce everything from good sized crappie to Northern Pike on a regular basis.

Facilities at Summit Lake include primitive camping, picnic facilities, boat ramps, restrooms, swimming access, and parking.
