LINGID

Browns Lake and Bigelow Park are located 2 miles west of Salix, in Woodbury County, Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists the lake as being an "oxbow", and containing approximately 580 surface acres of water. The lake suffers a considerable amount of summer weed growth in the summertime.

Facilities at the lake include boat ramps, restrooms, picnic facilities, and primitive camping. Powered boating is allowed on the lake, and the boat ramp is a hard paved surface. The park is very well maintained and experiences moderate to heavy use in the summer.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists the lake as containing Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Bullhead, Crappie, and Channel Catfish as the major species. On our visit we caught several Crappie near the public swimming beach. Other anglers reported catches of Crappie, Catfish, and bullhead.
