Lost Island Lake is located 3 miles north of Ruthven, in Palo Alto County, Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists the lake as being a natural lake, covering 1170 surface acres of water.
Facilities at Lost Island Lake include; modern camping, hiking trails, nature center, forested area, boat rental, and boat ramps. Boating is allowed on the lake with no size limit on boat motor. Boat ramps have a hard surface for ease in launching and docking of boat.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists; Bullhead and Walleye as the major species of fish available in Lost Island Lake. Also listed as available in the lake, but not as common are Crappie, Bluegill, Northern Pike and Yellow Perch.
