Storm Lake is located on the south edge of Storm Lake, in Buena Vista County, Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists the lake as being a natural lake, covering 3097 surface acres of water.
Facilities at Storm Lake include; both primitive and modern campsites, walking/biking trails, showers, a playground, public restrooms and shelter houses. Boating is allowed on the lake, with no size restriction on motor size. Boat ramps have a hard surface for ease in launching and docking of boat.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources lists; White Bass, Walleye and Channel Catfish as the major species of fish available in Storm Lake. Also listed as available but not commonly found in the lake are Bullhead and Crappie.
