Fort McPherson lake is located approximately 2 miles south of Maxwell, in Lincoln County, Nebraska. The Lake is adjacent to I-80 and sits off eastbound exit 190. The lake was created when earth was excavated from the area to be used for creation of the Interstate. The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as containing fishable populations of Bluegill, Carp, Channel Catfish, and Largemouth Bass. Facilities at Fort McPherson include primitive camping, restrooms, and parking.
