LINGID

Grove Lake lies 2 miles north of Royal Nebraska in Antelope County. It has 54 surface acres of water and is excellent fishing in relationship to its size. The facilities are primitive with only 2 boat docks, parking, and primitive camping. There are some facilities available in the neighboring Grove Lake State Wildlife Management Area. Boaters should note that there is a 5mph no wake restriction on boating on the lake.

The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as containing good fishable populations of Bluegill, Bullhead, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike. Pike fishing is excellent, and we found that the pike were quite aggressive against medium sized spoons and crankbaits. We were even able to entice several smaller pike out of shallow weed beds with topwater lures. Catfishing at night was also productive near the Dam with bloodbait and shad. For a smaller lake this lake is excellent fishing.

Two points of interest near Grove Lake are the Grove Lake State Fish Hatchery and Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park.
